Officer Responsibilities and Job Descriptions
While student officers have unique responsibilities on paper, the officers actually have very similar roles that are still somewhat demanding. The officers meet to plan and discuss upcoming meetings and the management of the N.J.H.S. Officers must be willing to speak to N.J.H.S. members during meetings and in front of new N.J.H.S. members' families at the induction ceremony. Officers must be able to devote some time outside of school to research volunteer opportunities and projects, maintain the website, and communicate with community organizations. This is in addition to the usual service requirements and goals for all members.
President- Coordinates NJHS activities, communicates with advisors, attend all meetings (both general membership meetings and officer meetings), runs NJHS meetings, fills in any missing officer position, assists the treasurer in finances, and keeps up with which students are not meeting the requirements of and NJHS.
Vice President- Provides insight and knowledge about NJHS activities, aids the president, attends all meetings (both general membership meetings and officer meetings), and is in charge of advertising meetings and events. As a part of their advertising duties, vice presidents will be in charge of updating the NJHS bulletin board in the eighth grade hallway.
Treasurer- Attends all meetings (both general membership meetings and officer meetings), helps keep records of money collected for service projects, help make decisions with the other officers.
Secretary- Attends all meetings (both general membership meetings and officer meetings),writes down fundraising ideas that are put forth during meetings, proof reads proposals, keeps minutes of officer meetings and posts them by providing copies for all officers and advisors by email. Takes pictures of fundraisers and events and provides sponsors with pictures, and advertises meetings and events.
